pop-up brighton show // zero // exhibition photos

It’s safe to say the opening of Zero, an exhibition of work by Fishboy, Jim McElvaney, Hugo Jones and myself on 2 December was a success thanks to the fantastic hard work and enthusiasm of the PopUpBrighton, transforming a disused empty space next to Brighton’s pier into a space for creativity.

Pop up Brighton has recently been featured in Brighton’s local newspaper The Argus (below) and the full article can be read online, here. As well as on various websites including The AOICreative Boom and Design Juices. The second exhibition ‘No 1′ which features over 30 artists, illustrators and designers is open daily, noon til 5pm up until 21 December. For more information visit www.popupbrighton.com

great shows to go see: RCA secret

The Royal College of Art is holding an exhibition of 2900 postcards – the work of over 1000 RCA students and graduates, including the likes of Grayson Perry, David Bailey, Yoko Ono and Tracy Emin, each artist works on up to three postcards which are then displayed anonymously. Each can be purchased at a price of only £45 and all profits go to RCA student bursaries. I found the show intriguing, with everything from beautiful and grotesque, plain and outrageous to political and naive. Above are a few of the postcards that I admire.

great shows to go see: katja spitzer

Berlin based illustrator Katja Spitzer at The Book Club – Shoreditch. A fantastic collection of work – I would recommend going at a quieter time than a busy Saturday though so you can have a good look at the framed pieces on the walls as well as the beautiful wall murals.

‘you are here’ illustration exhibition

Introducing ‘You Are Here’, of course I have to (well, want to) support the newly graduating final year students on the illustration BA at Swansea Metropolian, and this is their up-coming show in London’s Brick Lane, showcasing the work of 23 fresh-faced illustrators and artists. The exhibition will be held in The Annexe, located on Sclater Street. (A short walk from The Brick Lane Gallery.) Nearest tubes : Aldgate East, Liverpool Street, Shoreditch High Street.
This exhibition will be open daily until Sunday, June 26th. It promises to be a wonderful show, and it also promises a Wednesday treat of beer and wine for guests.
